On an Island, in the SouthThe painting was completely improvised, but subconsciously became connected to a recent trip to a small Sicilian island. It feels a bit like a distorted, holiday memory, it has a bit of that postcard nostalgia thing. I think, in a way, this could just be a painting of me trying to survive a heatwave in Sicily. I like the way the swift is sort of photo bombing the scene.
